I just wanted to leave a comment on this film because Warner is working on a "Lost Girls" title. This is being done on the strength of the cult popularity of "Lost Boys" and the popularity of the Buffy Series. A vampire version of The Craft. Sounds fun to me. Great soundtrack on this film, too.

Dianne Wiest and her two sons (Corey Haim and Jason Patric) move to a small town that is really inhabited by vampires that come out to murder at night. Everything is tongue-in-cheek though as Patric falls under the spell of beauty Jami Gertz and starts to hang out with Kiefer Sutherland and his gang of motorcycle thugs. Soon Patric starts acting strangely and Haim (already warned by spooky teens Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander) realizes that his older brother is really a creature of the night. As all this goes on Wiest tries to keep her father (Barnard Hughes) out of trouble and also finds romance with electronics store owner Edward Herrmann. As the film advances it is apparent that twists and turns could end up dictating the direction the film is going to take. "The Lost Boys" is a strange over-achiever. It should not be as good as it is, but it is saved by some funny performances and by solid direction by the usually dependable Joel Schumacher. Overall I liked the movie and I found it to be one of those guilty pleasure experiences. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
